Best Albums Of 2023

Better late than never, here are the Defend Vinyl top albums of 2023

Eva's Top 5

  1. boygenius - The Record "10/10 did not disappoint, luv the boys"

2. Slow Pulp - Yards "Such good album art, and the vibes are immaculate"

3. Arlo Parks - My Soft Machine "Arlo Parks does not disappoint on their sophomore album, mostly happy but got some sad bangers for those of us who like to wallow"

4. CMAT - Crazymad, For Me "What is there to say? My Irish queen"

5. Paramore - This Is Why "2017's After Laughter is one of my favourite albums of all time, and I really did not think they could top it, but THIS is their magnum opus"

Graham's Top 5 (in no order)

  1. The Menzingers - Some Of It Was True "Fully leaning into those Springsteen & Tom Petty influences for their best album since After The Party"

2. Sincere Engineer - Cheap Grills "super catchy emo-inspired punk (or maybe punk-inspired emo)"

3. Duff Thompson - Shadow People "beautifully produced & atmospheric blend of indie, folk & garage-rock "

4. Max Bien Kahn - When I Cross It Off "Another New Orleans singer-songwriter makes the list! Max Bien Kahn's first album under his own name is full of catchy Americana tinged indie-pop with beautiful harmonies & arrangements"

5. Hammer No More The Fingers - Silver Zebra "may be a bit biased on this one but Hammer haven't disappointed on their long-awaited third album. 10 super-catchy mathy indie rock songs over a tight 22 minutes"

Defend Vinyl Records News

The shop's sister record label Defend Vinyl Records has a number of releases lined up this year which we are super excited to tell you about but we have to keep them under our woolly hats for now. Our first of 2023 is the awesome new album from North Carolina's Hammer No More The Fingers 'Silver Zebra'. The long-awaited third album hit streaming sites back in November with the limited edition silver vinyl edition shipping this Spring. We couldn't be happier to have HNMTF on the Defend Vinyl Records roster. Watch this space for more label news!
