New Releases

Some awesome new releases in over the last few weeks.

The Postal Service have released the soundtrack to their feature-length documentary concert film of their performance at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, CA during their 2013 reunion tour. A collaboration between Benjamin Gibbard (of Death Cab for Cutie) and Jimmy Tamborello (from Dntel), with Rilo Kiley’s Jenny Lewis, The Postal Service released Give Up, their one and only album, in 2003. 'Everything Will Change' contains songs from that album plus b-sides & covers, an essential buy for any fans of the band. Available now on Limited Edition Sub Pop Loser Edition

'Bird Machine' is the uncompleted fifth album from Mark Linkous aka Sparklehorse. Originally recorded in 2010 & mixed by Joel Hamilton (who also worked on the band's 'It's A Wonderful Life' LP), the never-heard-before album is now proudly released posthumously via ANTI-records.

On August 12, 2011 Sonic Youth played their final US show on an outdoor stage overlooking the East River at the Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn. Featuring a unique and expansive eighty-five minute set list that spans Sonic Youth’s nearly three decade catalog, the set is now available on double colour vinyl with artwork echoing the bootlegs of the '70s. Mixed from multitrack by longtime live engineer Aaron Mullan and mastered and cut by Carl Saff.

Fitting that their storied career would bookend with a panoramic view of New York City where it all began 30 years before, having left in their wake one of one of the most powerfully influential careers in rock music.
